The studies of epidemiological methods build the foundation for population-based research both in the context of health promotion and disease prevention. The program offers advanced doctoral-level research training that builds on multiple disciplinary perspectives to understanding origins and determinants of health and disease across populations in the context of epidemiological methods. Training will be acquired in relevant fields such as e.g., communicable and non-communicable, chronic and infectious disease epidemiology, nutritional epidemiology, environmental epidemiology, occupational epidemiology, social epidemiology, the epidemiology of aging, molecular epidemiology, clinical epidemiology, as well as pharmacoepidemiology.

This full-time degree program is located at the Medical University of Vienna and offers a Doctorate of Medical Sciences (UN790 Dr. med. scient.) in Applied Medical Sciences. It is designed to encourage students to benefit from connections between epidemiological methods and a broader range of academic disciplines represented across the Medical University of Vienna and adjacent Universities. The program offers advanced doctoral-level research training that builds on multiple disciplinary perspectives to understanding origins and determinants of health and disease across populations in the context of epidemiological methods.
