Mag. (FH) Claudia Fischer PhD MMSc

Postdoctoral Researcher

Claudia FISCHER joined the Department of Health Economics in May 2018.

Her current research focuses on the care of older adults, palliative care, and end-of-life care. Her areas of expertise encompass healthcare provision, quality measurement within healthcare systems, and the development and evaluation of quality indicators. She has methodological expertise in both quantitative and qualitative analyses, which she has applied across various national and international projects (e.g.: PallPROMs (FWF), iLIVE Live well – die well (Horizon 2020), HSR Europe (EU 7th framework project)). She teaches and supervises students at different levels at the Medical University of Vienna and is the deputy coordinator of the DHE Short Course on health economics and evaluation and evidence synthesis.

She previously held appointments at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) and Philips Research, Divison for Chronic Disease Management and Population Health (Cambridge/UK, Eindhoven/NL).

She holds a Phd in Public Health from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. During her PhD she also stayed at the Royal College of Surgeons and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London. She holds a Master degree in Public Health from the Erasmus University Rotterdam as well as Master degree in Health Science specialization `Lifestyle and Chronic Disorders´ from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Further, she obtained a diploma degree in Health Care Management from the University of Applied Sciences Carinthia (passed with distinction).
