Eva MORA-THEUER works as a paediatric specialist at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Vienna’s General Hospital / Medical University of Vienna. Eva joined the Center for Public Health as doctoral student with a research focus on “New Approaches in Child Protection Medicine in the Austrian Health Care System” in March 2019.
She has been involved in the field of Child Protection Medicine since the start of hear paediatric residency and was directly involved in the set-up of FOKUS (Forensic examination center for children and adolescents), which represents an sub-specialised umbrella service for all regional hospital-based child protection teams in Vienna. As a paediatric specialist and certified child abuse specialist (Inter-CAP courses, Certification for Child Protection Medicine by the DGKiM, Observership at the Stephanie Blank Center for Safe and Healthy Children (Atlanta, USA)) she continued her work at FOKUS. Furthermore, she is a founding member of the research committee of the Austrian Society of Child Protection Medicine (ÖGKiM) and a scholar member of the Ray E. Helfer Society ( primary US-Americansub-specialty society for physicians devoted to the problem of maltreated children). Since 2020 she is part of the management committee and core team of the COST-Action-19106 “Multisectoral responses to Child Abuse and Neglect in Europe: Incidence and Trends (Euro-CAN)” leading working group five on “Child protection data in the context of COVID-19”.
