Magdalena Żebrowska

Magdalena Żebrowska is a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Epidemiology, Center for Public Health, Medical University of Vienna. Her research combines epidemiology, biostatistics and genetic epidemiology, with a particular emphasis on the analysis of large-scale cohort and biobank data.

Her current work focuses on the genetic and epidemiological determinants of circadian health, sleep and shift-work-related outcomes, as well as their associations with cardiometabolic and mental health. She also investigates longitudinal and potentially causal relationships between lifestyle, environmental and social factors and health outcomes. Her research draws on data from major prospective studies and biobanks, including the Growing Up Today Study, the Nurses’ Health Study II and the UK Biobank.

She collaborates with interdisciplinary and international research teams and contributes expertise in statistical methodology, data analysis, study design and the interpretation of complex epidemiological and genomic data.

She holds an MSc, PhD in Mathematics from the University of Wrocław, Poland. Her doctoral research focused on Bayesian statistics and the performance of regression methods for identifying genes associated with quantitative traits in experimental crosses. After completing her doctorate, she moved to Vienna to pursue postdoctoral research in medical statistics at the Medical University of Vienna. At the Center for Medical Statistics, Informatics and Intelligent Systems, CEMSIIS, she worked in Professor Martin Posch’s research group on adaptive designs for clinical trials.

She joined the Department of Epidemiology at the Center for Public Health, Medical University of Vienna, in November 2020, where she has since advanced her research at the intersection of statistical methodology, epidemiology and population health.
