A DHE study examining socioeconomic inequalities in healthcare access among long COVID-19 patients in Austria is published in Health Expectations.
The analysis conducted by Peter Gamillscheg-Müllner was part of the Post-Covid Care Project led by Assoc.-Prof. Dr. Susanne Mayer and Dr. Agata Łaszewska (DHE) on the MedUni side. The study assessed socioeconomic inequalities in healthcare access for long COVID-19 patients, focusing on self-perceived barriers, facilitators, and unmet healthcare needs based on an Austrian-wide survey. The findings showed that participants living in urban areas, those with complementary private health insurance, or in a good economic situation reported fewer barriers to healthcare access, while facilitators did not differ by socioeconomic factors. Unmet healthcare needs were more common among participants living in rural areas and those in a poor economic situation.
